The short themed on Afghan Immigrants in Iran, directed by Fatemeh Mohammadi, will join the competition at the Women in Cinema section of the Italian fest.
‘Branded’ is the story of Hafiz, a man who crosses the border to Afghanistan in order to help save the life of a woman and her little daughter.
Mohammadi, who has made the festival favorite short film ‘Oblivion’, said earlier to the media that she means to make a short film which will reflect upon the pains and miseries Afghan immigrants experience. Therefore, in the making of ‘Branded’ she takes on mainly Afghan cast and crew members.
She also mentioned that she wants to prove that Afghans deserve a better situation than what they are currently stuck in.
The Salento International Film Festival aims to promote films from around the world in order to be a link between cultures.
The SIFF 2021- Bisceglie is slated for September 07-12.
